Jim Grigsby
Jim Grigsby, with over 20 years experience in healthcare financial management, founded Jim Grigsby Consulting to offer practical solutions to help improve revenue cycle performance, efficiency, and results. He understands how revenue cycle operations impact an organization and that cash is the lifeblood of every healthcare provider.
Jim climbed the healthcare finance management ladder from collector to Supervisor, Financial Counseling, to Director, Patient Financial Services, with responsibility for the entire revenue cycle: central scheduling, verification, access, financial counseling, billing, and collections.
As a consultant, Jim has helped establish an MSO, managed access and cash improvement projects, process re-engineering projects, and conducted numerous specific analyses. He has also served as an Interim Director, trained business office employees, and implemented a point-of-service collection program in a six-hospital system.
Jim received his BA in Economics and Mathematics from Western Michigan University. He is a Certified Patient Accounts Manager (CPAM), Certified Healthcare Collection Specialist (CHCS) and Certified Document Imaging Architect (CDIA). (Best we can tell, he is just certifiable.)
Jim is an Advanced Member with the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and is currently the Editor-In- Chief of Sunspots, the bi-monthly newsletter for the Florida chapter of HFMA. He is a Past National Officer and National Certification Chair with AAHAM and serves on the Hospital Accounts Receivable Analysis (HARA) Editorial Advisory Board.
Jim has enjoyed public speaking since he was 14 years old, and has authored Don’t Tick Off The Gators!, each chapter of which has a case study and offers advice applicable in both personal and business situations.
Jim was once a client of one of Julian’s companies, and now serves as an Associate with Health Care Strategies, providing business development services on behalf of HCS to his spheres of influence.
